Hardening:
Heat uniformly to 830/860°C until heated through. Quench in oil or water. Can also be induction or flame hardened. When 080A42 components made from bright bar are to be induction hardened it is recommended to machine the surface to remove the decarburised skin that may be present to ensure optimum hardness is achieved.

Tempering:
Heat uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures, between 550°C to 660°C and hold the 080A42 tool at heat for one hour per inch of total thickness.

Normalising:
Normalise 080A42 at 830-860°C, and cool in air.
