080M50  

 Technical Data

080M50 is a medium (0.5% to 0.6%) carbon steel.  080M50 can be supplied as bright drawn or as rolled 070M55 can be hardened to give a rockwell hardness of up to 55HRc and tensile strenght of between 700 to 1000 n/mm With a high surface hardness after heat treatment 080M50 givesexcellent wear resistance.
080M50 is available from stock in bar and can be cut to your requirements. We also offer 080M50 plate flame cut to your required sizes and normalised.

Forging:
Heat slowly and uniformly to 1100°C. After forging cool slowly.

Annealing: 
Heat the 080M50 component uniformly to 700°C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace. 

Hardening:

Heat uniformly the 080M50 tool to 820/840°C until heated through. Quench in oil, or water.

Tempering:

Heat uniformly and thoroughly the 080M50 tool at the selected tempering temperature, between 550/660°C and hold at heat for one hour per inch of total thickness.
