 EN30B   835M30  Technical Data

EN30B is a 4¼% nickel air/oil hardening steel. It achieves a good through hardness with high strength and toughness. It is capable of taking a good polish and is widely used as a plastic mould steel.

Forging:
Heat slowly and uniformly to uniformly to 1050°C. After forging cool slowly.

Annealing:
Heat uniformly to 630/650°C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace.

Hardening:
Pre heat slowly yo 650/700°C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 830/850°C and allow the component to be heated through. Quench in oil or cool in air.

Tempering:
Heat uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures and hold for one hour per inch of total thickness.
