BS970  Specifications Comprehensive stocks are held in BS970 steel specifcations.  Engineering steel grades to BS970 were first issued in 1941 initially in the EN range of steel specfications specifications. Over the years many carbon steel and alloy steel designations have been added to the BS970 specification. Many BS970 grades have been superceded over time. BS970 grades are held on stock and delivered throughout the U.K. Prompt service given by our well informed sales team.    A generel purpose medium carb steelsteel for applications requiring added strength and improved  tensile properties to low carbon steel specifications.  A 0.42% medium carbon steel  A carbon manganese steel equivalent to European grades 1.0503 and C45    A 0.5 to 0.6% carbon, 0.8% manganese steel.  Good strength 0.5% to 0.6% carbon steel suitable for heat treatment if required.  Carbon manganese steel specification.  Manganese molybdenum low alloy high tensile steel.  A 1% chromium molybdenum high tensile steel.  Similar high tensile grade to 708M40 but with higher molybdenum content in this specification.  1.5% nickel chromium molybdenum high tensile grade commonly supplied as 817M40T  A  2.5% nickel chromium molybdenum grade commonly supplied as the 826M40W.     A 4.25% nickel steel which attains a good through hardness after heat treatment.  A low carbon case hardening steel grade.  Similar low carbon case hardening grade to 080M15.  Nickel chromium grade which achieves a good core strength and hard surface after case hardening.  3% Chromium molybdenum nitriding grade.  Similar in specification to 722M24 but with improved nitriding characteristics.  A Silicon manganese spring steel     Similar silicon manganese spring steel to 250A53 but with a slightly higher carbon content.  Chromium vanadium spring steel which offers good wear resistance after heat treatment.   Available forms:
